Quantm Pty Ltd, a Trimble company, provides corridor identification and alignment optimisation services to the linear infrastructure industry. 2009 will see the launch of Quantm's new route optimisation system that has been specifically developed to address the needs of the gas transmission pipeline owners and developers. 

The system integrates land use constraint mapping, construction limitations and cost estimation into a single analysis. It optimises to determine routes that deliver the lowest pipeline construction costs subject to the unit costs and constraint data defined by the user. Variations arising from changes in unit costs, geology or emerging constraints can be re-optimised and costed within minutes. 

The system allows pipeline development teams to meet complex environmental, landowner and construction constraints; minimise construction cost; and reduce project planning time. The system can be used at the macro/strategic project stage and the tactical stage, to support land owner access negotiations. It will extend the boundaries of financial analysis of pipeline development, lower the risk profile and deliver improved project viability.
